Creating new reports

Reports are based on cubes within an olap database or within a local cube file. When creating a new document, we must select the initial server, database and cube on which we want to base the report. This can be done by using the New Report wizard.

To create a new report:

In the file section of the main ribbon click on
From the application menu select New...

The wizard will guide you through the following steps

Choose the source

Type the name of the Olap server machine to select a machine from the network or click next if the olap server is already given or select the olap server from the drop down box.

You can also connect to a local cube by specifying the name of the local cube file in the cube file text box.

Connection properties

You can control advanced properties of the connection. To do this, press the Options... button.

This will bring up a properties dialog in which you can change connection properties. See the DWE Administrators Guide for more information on the connection properties.

Select the cube

Open the database that contains the cube you want and select the cube and press Finish or double-click on the cube name.

Design the report

An empty Document will now be created. You can start customizing the document by placing a hierarchy on the axes.

To add additional data sources to the report see data sources topic.
