Working with KPIs

Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are financial and non-financial metrics used to quantify objectives to reflect strategic performance of an organization. KPIs are used in Business Intelligence to assess the present state of the business and to prescribe a course of action.

The KPIs defined in a cube can be viewed within the application.

Note: KPIs are only available when working with Analysis Services 2005 and higher. Only one KPI window per data source can be added to the report.

View KPI results

To view KPIs in the cube, click the button on the toolbar. This will open the KPI viewer window.

By default, no KPI will have been selected to be displayed.

To select the KPIs to view, click on the selection drop down in the window's toolbar:

KPIs are grouped in display folders to allow for easy navigation.

Select the KPIs you wish to view by clicking on the checkbox next to the KPI. To select all KPIs in a display folder, check the box next to the display folder.
