Portal servers

Portal servers are used to centrally store reports that can be accessed both through your intranet and over the Internet.

If your organization purchased a DWE Portal server, you can choose to store your reports there as well as on a local or remote disk drive.

Add and remove portal servers

From the open and save dialog it is possible to manage the report servers available from your application.

To add or remove a report server:

 

•In the open or save dialog click on Tools and then Manage Servers...

 

In the displayed dialog you can add or remove a portal server location. To add a new portal server, click on the empty area at the top.

 

       

 

Only two fields need to be entered:

 

Name

This is the name as will be displayed in the open and save dialogs.

Address

This is the url to the portal server service.
In most cases this will be http://<servername>/webservice/service.asmx, however this can be different in certain cases. Please consult your system administrator for the exact address of your report servers.

Note: the address is not verified until you try to open it in an open or save dialog.

 

After you have added a server, this server will be displayed in the My Workspace folder.

 

To delete a server, select the server and click on the - button.

To edit and existing definition, double click the definition to edit the value in place.
