Suspend automatic updating of results

Often, you will need to create a certain report state that requires multiple steps to be achieved.

Normally, after each step, e.g. sorting/drilling/filter/etc., the results will be updated so the report elements reflect the current state of the query.

If you are not interested in these intermediate results, you can suspend the automatic updating of the results.

To do so:

Press the button on the ribbon

While this button is pressed (highlighted), any changes to the report state will not cause the report elements to be updated.

Note: this can be potentially confusing, as, for example, the grid might display two hierarchies on the rows in the drop area, while only the members for a single hierarchy are displayed in the grid results.

Once you are finished designing your report, you can update the results to reflect the current state by:

Pressing the again, so automatic updating of the results is turned back on again.
Pressing the button on the toolbar or pressing F5 to update the results once manually. After this, updating of the results will still be suspended.
